Salvatore Ferragamo moved to America from Italy in 1914, eventually ending up in Hollywood where his shoe making and repair business began to attract attention. His shoes featured on the stars on and off duty (he made Judy Garland’s ruby slippers for The Wizard of Oz). Returning to Italy in 1927, he set up his eponymous fashion house, which today produces menswear, womenswear, fragrances and eyewear.
