Chloé was founded in 1952 by Gaby Aghion who believed in giving women the freedom to dare to be themselves.
As a Parisienne who grew up in Egypt, she possessed a bohemian spirit that rejected the stiff formality of the time. She used the savoir-faire of haute couture, twisting it to create a modern and youthful attitude.
In this way, she invented luxury prêt-à-porter. Through the creation of soft, body-conscious clothes from fine, contemporary fabrics, ‘luxury prêt-à-porter’ was born.
In December 2020, Gabriela Hearst joined Chloé as the Creative Director. Gabriela Hearst is the first female designer with a multi-cultural heritage to both Uruguay and the United States to take the helm of a Paris fashion House. Gabriela’s commitment is to make a strong and modern collection without compromising her ethics and key values
Today, under the Creative Direction of Gabriela Hearst, Chloé will continues to stand for six enduring values: natural femininity, free-spiritedness, modernity, effortlessness, sisterhood and grace.
